Photography of the fourth journey

During a 6 weeks stay in Sudan I took 2500 photos. This is the third gallery. It shows the All Miri Conference of April 7, held in Miri Berre. This is followed by images form the trip from Lueri to Kafugli, through Moro. It also shows a trip to Frandalla, the trip back to Khartoum and a few scenes in Khartoum.

ALL MIRI CONFERENCE, APRIL 7, 2006

In memoriam

Participants

Commander... I'm sorry... I forgot his name

It was actually a very nice conference

But I did get the feeling

That there was no younger generation

To take over

From these proud men.

The women sang a 'coffee song', making music with

spoons, cups, grinders

Anything related to drinking coffee

And then it's time for the kambala

Again the dancers

are not the youngest of men

But the audience begins to cheer

The women start singing their songs

And when the men begin to dance

everybody joins in

Dancer

Singer

It was great to watch these men

celebrate their culture

and although I had seen the kambala danced before

certain things became much more clear...

I realised that I had never seen

the real thing... because until this day

I never saw the Miri women participate

I'ld say she's related to Commander Ezekiel

Time for a bible session

Commander Ezekiel is a Christian

In 1997 I celebrated Christmas with the people of Tabanya
Many of them are now in Frandala

Some, like Fatma, remember me

I have to admit I can't remember him though

Here are two of Ezekiel's boys
