South Kordofan state ready for dialogue with SPLM, Governor says

The governor of South Kordofan,  Ahmed Haroon, said on Wednesday that the state government is ready for a dialogue with the SPLM, to pave way for peace.

Addressing a press conference in Khartoum, Haroon however said that the SPLA must lay down their arms before any dialogue can take place. He said the government is willing to accept any initiative to resolve the impasse on the presence of the SPLA forces in the state.

Harron said the fighting in South Kordofan had ceased, adding that eighty five percent of the displaced people had returned to their homes.The governor denied the existence of mass graves in the region.
