SAF Accuses SPLA Of Attacks In Southern Kordofan

The Sudan Armed Forces has accused the SPLA of attacking their forces at Um Dorain in southern Kordofan on Sunday killing one of its soldiers and wounding seven others.

The Spokesperson of SAF, Al-Sawarmi Khalid spoke to SRS on Tuesday from Khartoum.

[Al-Sawarmi Khalid]: “On Sunday 5th June 2011 the SPLA with Heavy artillery and a big number of military force attacked the area of Um Dorain Eastern Kadugli area. They clashed with our army because they came in, in a large number that led our force to move to another location to organize itself. We lost one soldier and seven of them were wounded. The action of the SPLA is to create instability in the area. Therefore, SAF reserves its full right to respond to it at the right time and place”

On Monday, SAF downplayed reports of clashes in the state, saying that it was an isolated incident caused by one soldier, and none of the sides is to be blamed.

While the SPLA claimed the SAF was to be blamed for the fighting as they deployed a big force and heavy artillery to the area.
