GoSS calls for withdrawal of SAF in Abyei after July 9th

The Minister of Regional Cooperation in the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS), Deng Alor, has said that it will not allow the presence of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) in Abyei after 9th July. In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Alor pointed out the two partners may not reach an agreement over post-referendum issues as SAF is occupying Abyei.
He described the humanitarian situation in Abyei as bad.
SAF, howevere, said it will stay in Abyei until a new security and political arrangement is reached. Speaking to Radio Miraya, the spokesperson of SAF, Al Swarmi Khalid Saad, has called upon local and international humanitarian organizations to visit Abyei and asses the situation on the ground. He said that the security and humanitarian situation are stable in the area.
Saad also added that they have given a deadline to the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) to withdraw their forces from the Blue Nile and South Kordofan states before the 1st of June.
