Complementary Elections in South Kordufan State kicks off, Haroun, Helo cast votes respectively

The voting started Monday Morning for the complementary elections in South Kordufan State, to elect a Governor and members of the legislative Council in 555 polling centers and 666 polling stations The first day of vote was stable and calm in all the stations where the voters in the 19 localities cast their vote easily without any problems.
Meanwhile, Candidate of the National Congress, Ahmed Mohammed Haroun, and the Candidate of the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM), Gen. Abdul Aziz Adam Al-Hilo, cast their votes respectively in Telo School polling centre in Kadugli in South Kordufan.
In this regard, the Chairman of the Higher Committee for elections in South Kordufan State, Adam Abedin, said the elections process began at 08.00 a.m. on Monday in all the polling centers in the States, urging the citizens to go to the polling centers to practice their rights for vote during the three-day polling period.
He further affirmed the keenness of the Elections Commission to conduct free, fair and transparent elections in South Kordufan. He explained that some 10,000 ID cards were issued for local observers from political parties besides other 37 ID cards for International Observers under the direction of Carter International Centre as well as other African and Asian observers.
Abedin said the Elections Commission has put the burden of observing the elections on the shoulders of political parties in order to silence fraud and rigging claims. On the other hand, some citizens, responding to questions by SUNA, expressed their content with regard to the smooth ongoing of the process and procedures inside the polling centers.
The heads of the polling centers further affirmed that the vote process goes on without any problems. SUNA further witnessed intensive presence from agents of political parties inside the polling centers as well as continuous tours by teams of local and international observers.
It is to be noted that some 642,555 voters are due to participate in the elections to choose a Wali of the State and 32 members of the legislative council in South Kordufan State
