Nominations for South Kordofan elections closed

The Southern Kordofan State High Elections Committee has closed nominations for gubernatorial and members of the State Legislative Assembly for the forthcoming elections.

A representative of the committee, Ibrahim Mohammed Amin, said that about five forms for the governorship have been taken by the National Congress Party, the SPLM, the National Umma Party, and an independent candidate named Telefon Kuku.

Miraya's Correspondent in the area reported that nominations for the legislature came from around 245 geographical constituencies. The State election is scheduled to take place in May.
