Security And Defense Committee In The National Assembly To Visit Abyei, S.Kordofan And Blue Nile State

The Security and Defense committee in the National Assembly are scheduled to visit Abyei, Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile state to assess the general security situation in the three regions.
The deputy chairperson of the Security and Defense Committee and a member of SPLM, Kumdan Joda spoke to SRS from Khartoum on Tuesday.
[Kumdan Joda]: “Members of this committee will visit Blue Nile to assess the situation there. Of course for Abyei there are violations and the committee wants to go there and find out what triggered these violations? In addition to that we want to assess the security arrangements there, and also in Southern Kordofan state how is the popular consultation process progressing and also in Blue Nile. The committee is moving now to these areas in order to assess these facts so that when the assembly opens we will be able to submit report about Abyei”.
This will be the first visit of the SPLM leadership in the Northern sector following the announcement of the secession of Southern Sudan.
