Voter Registration Progress In South Kordofan

The chairman of the southern Kordofan High Electoral commission said that the on-going voter registration process in the state is going on smoothly.

Idris Musa said that at least 54 thousand have so far registered for the state election after which a popular consultation exercise is expected to be conducted.
Mohammed Idris spoke to SRS from Kadugli on Friday.

[Mohamed Idris]:“The registration is going on well without any problems. And incase any issue arises or a challenge then it will be solved within the centers. We have so far about 1,463 centers. From day one up to today Friday we have registered about 54 thousand people. The registration will end on 12th February. There after we shall publish the names. And if there are some errors they will be corrected then after that we have the nominations then elections will be conducted in May”

Initially the registration was scheduled to start on January 16th

According to the CPA South Kordofan and Blue Nile State will hold elections before the popular consultation exercise in the two regions.
