NEC postpones elections in South Kordofan

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has endorsed an appeal from the Presidency requesting a partial postponement of the upcoming elections in South Kordofan. The move comes in a bid to resolve the dispute over census results in the area.

The commission issued a statement On Tuesday announcing the postponement of the elections for governor and to the State Legislative Assembly by 60 days. However, it said that the elections for the Presidency of the Republic and for the National Assembly will take place as scheduled.
