22May, 2009 (Miraya FM)
The Sudan People's Liberation Movement has accused the National Congress Party of forging the details of the 5th population census results that are important for the 2010 elections.
The accusation was voiced by the movement's Spokesperson, Yien Matthew, who demanded the formation of what he called as a Specialized Technical Committee to revise the census results.
The accusation was voiced by the movement's Spokesperson, Yien Matthew, who demanded the formation of what he called as a Specialized Technical Committee to revise the census results.
Matthew urged the National Electoral Commission not to use the current census results as basis for the delimitation of geographic constituencies.
Officials from the National Congress Party could not be reached to reply to SPLM's accusations.
Previously, the SPLM-which is the ruling party in the south-has expected south Sudan's population to consist at least one third of the country's total population, which exceeds the officially announced figures.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Peter Abdulrahman Sule, described south Sudan's census results as "regretful."
Sule expressed his disappointment, He said "We are outrage and we are very, very disappointed".
He added because if we are going to have a State less than one-quarter, then we will have very less number of seats in the northern Assembly.
About the unity Sule said suppose we are going for unity which is being said to be made attractive, that is hardly the way unity is going to be attractive at all.
It is just going to be disappointing for everybody and it is not going to allow us to influence any legislature in the north.
