Bashir denounces existence of closed areas in south Kordofan

May 21, 2009 (Miraya FM)

The President of the Republic of Sudan, Omer Al Bashir, has criticized the existence of "closed areas" in South Kordofan and directed to make them accessible.

While addressing a mass rally in Kadugli today, Al Bashir promised to develop the State, pointing that this does not require support from foreign humanitarian organizations.

In response to Al Bashir's speech, the SPLM's official Spokesperson in the State, Mohamadeen Ibrahim, urged the government to prove its intention to making these areas part of the south Kordofan's community.

Mohamadeen told Miraya FM that what came in the President's speech must be followed by practical procedures that would benefit the citizens of the State.
