South Kordofan State Launches Reconciliation Initiative

South Kordofan Wali (Governor) Ahmed Mohamed Haroun has launched a wide initiative for reconciliation in which all the forces, native administration, civil society organizations, media, youth, women and sport sectors of the State are involved.

Addressing mass gathering in Kadugli town on the occasion of his assuming the governorship of South Kordufan state, Thursday, Haroun added that the said mechanisms guaranteeing participation of all political and social forces wojdl be established, pointing out that details and requirements of the initiative will be jointly drafted the said forces.

Haroun considered his term of office as interim and objective-focussed period that aims to realize certain objectives including peace building, prepare the state for the upcoming elections and spur efforts being exerted for bringing close ranks of the citizens of the state.

He pointed out that he agreed with his deputy on implementation of real partnership during the remaing short period, stressing that the situation of the state was critical and that all sides must work together to overcome these challenges and try to compensate the losts years.

He promised that they will present a model of a unified leadership and if they do not succeed they would step down. But he stressed that they were determined to succeed.

He said that their major task during the coming period would be the realization of wide shura (consultation) and that whatever decision they take they would see to its being implemented decisively, affirming importance of the coming elections as the event stands out as an important political entitlement, pledging to help create a conducive atomsphere for the success of the elections.
