Protest against expulsion of NGOs in Kauda, South Kurdofan

9 March 2009
Yesterday 8th March, 2009 it was International Women day. In kauda many people turned up celebrating this day but before the celebration kicked of, thousand of the school children, training institutes, different departments and local leaders decided to march to the UNMIS Kauda Head Quarter to express their disappointment about the expelling of humanitarians Aid workers in the Area by the Sudanese president Omar El-bashir.
Though most of those agencies are based in Khartoum, there are some which have their sub offices in South Kordufan (both in Kadugli and in Kauda). Save the children UK, Norwegian refugees council (NRC) and many other have been affected.
Their expulsion has a big impact on the communities that are the mainly beneficiaries of the services that are being delivered by those agencies like HAKIMA MEDICAIL TRAINING ISTITUTE in Kumo which is being supported by the Save the Children and Mercy Oorp working with the community based organizations. These are people who will be mainly affected with this unwise decision to expel the Aid groups from Sudan.
To me these NGOs have nothing to do with the ICC issue, there fore we Nuba call upon the international community to look into this matter and do something to help the innocent people who are being served by these NGOs.
