The SPLM Co-Chair of the Joint Political Executive Committee, Dr. Riek Machar said during the committee's meetings, that there is a visible improvement in the discussion over the national security bill between the two parties.

Following the meeting yesterday, Machar said the two parties reached consensus on several bills including Press and Publication, Human Rights and Land Commissions.

It is expected that discussions on the amendment of all the incompatible laws will be completed before the end of this year.

President Omer Al Bashir confirmed that the upcoming days shall witness the approval of several laws including the National security, Press and Publication, and Criminal Procedures among other laws of democratic transformation.

This came during the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairmen and members of the National Electoral Commission and the Parties Council at the Presidential Palace yesterday.

Al Bashir said that the national organs are ready to provide all support to the Electoral Commission and the Parties Council to ensure free, fair and timely elections.

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Abel Alier, assured in his speech that the commission will exert all efforts to ensure successful and fair elections.

The Chairman of the parties Council Mohammed Bushara Dowsa, said that the council will perform its duties with integrity and neutrality, calling on all parties and the press to cooperate to enable the Council to fulfill its mission.

It is worth mentioning that the formation of both Electoral Commission and Council of Parties comes in accordance with the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the 2005 transitional constitution.
