Armed Misseriya tribesmen have agreed to break their siege of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) garrison in Kharasana, South Kordofan, following mediation efforts by State Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Ahmed Haroun, Unity State Governor Taban Deng, and prominent National Congress Party (NCP) member Al-Dirdiri Mohamed.
The parties also agreed that the Joint Integrated Units (JIUs) should replace the SPLA in Abyei and that the SPLA forces there should redeploy south of the 1.1.’56 line.
