Informed sources told Alwan that just before holding his last press conference in Juba, Salva Kiir has received many telephone calls from some regional and international leaders requesting him not take further measures that may deepen the rift between the SPLM and NCP.

Kiir, who was planning to announce at the press conference the suspension of SPLM participation in the National Assembly and the state governments, have changed his mind in the last minute as a result of the calls which he had received.
