The Sudan Armed Forces denies deploying troops on borders with the south

24 October 2007 (Miraya FM)

The armed forces spokesperson Major General Osman Mohamed Al Agbash denied that the armed forces are deploying troops between the north and the south Sudan.

Al Agbash told Miraya FM that the armed forces are committed to the implementation of the security arrangements according to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

The Sudan People’s Liberation movement had earlier accused the armed forces of building up its troops between the south and the north following the outbreak of crisis between the two partners in the Government of National Unity.

For his part, the SPLM Secretary-General, Bagan Amoum, warned yesterday in Juba of what he called the hazardous presence of the armed forces in areas in southern Sudan, calling on the UN Mission in Sudan to intervene
