First Vice-President urges states to be ready for implementation of peace protocols

The First Vice President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, has urged governments of the states to be ready for putting into action the peace protocols as of next January, in compliance with the instruction of the President of the Republic in his recent address at the National Assembly. While chairing a meeting with the states walis (governors) on Tuesday, Taha said that the government is committed to the contents of the protocols regarding federal rule, the financial resources of the states and legislative aspects of the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile agreements. Along with achieving peace protocols, the meeting also reviewed prospective states' budgets. AH/MO
