A World Bank mission is currently visiting Khartoum to finalise the details of a multi-million grant to the Nuba Mountains Programme for Advancing Conflict Transformation (NMPACT) framework.

NUBA MOUNTAINS
A rapid inter-agency survey conducted across Nuba Mountains revealed that there is a steady stream of returnees into the region from the GoS areas. About 48,000 people are reported to have returned between
November 2002 and March 2003.

UNDP in partnership with GoS HAC, SARRD & Ru'ya has recently supported IOM in the completion of a joint socio-economic/demographic survey of Nuba IDPs in camps and squatter areas in 12 States of Sudan including
the capital, Khartoum, through rapid documentation and analysis of information on the socio-economic and demographic profiles of the aforementioned IDP households.

UNDP led initiative supporting gender and sustainable livelihoods in the region is expanding its community based interventions to directly support Nuba women through 'Jubraka' (women's farming plots) improvement introducing new vegetables and fruits along with improving access to marketing venues.
