Britain has welcomed the recent cease-fire agreement in the Nuba Mountains, which was signed by the government and SPLM/A (Nuba Mountains sector) in Switzerland, as a step for reaching comprehensive peace in Sudan, said Sudan's ambassador to Britain, Dr Hasan Abidin.
The ambassador said to SUNA that Britain supports the peace endeavours in Sudan in its capacity as member of the IGAD Partners' Group.
He explained that the recent visit paid to Sudan by the British international cooperation minister, Ms Clare Short, has affirmed the British policy for supporting the peace efforts in Sudan, adding that she reflected the British trend during her meetings with the Sudanese officials and personalities whom she met during the visit.
