The attack on the Kauda area that started with bombardments on May 17 has eventually been repulsed by SPLA troops under command of Abdel Aziz el Hilu.
After two weeks of heavy fighting the government army was forced to withdraw, leaving heavy artillery, ammunition and many casualties behind. Since yesterday, the SPLA is in full control of the area again.
A number of villages has been burned by the Sudanese army, ao: Ndurdu, Kajama, Shawaya, el Azraq and Tjouri.
The SPLA has managed to hold on to Um Sirdiba, which was captured on May 27.
