SRF Claims Control of SAF Garrison In Northern Kordofan

The Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) claims it has captured Sidra area, which lies 20 km South of Rahad locality in Northern Kordofan State.
The SRF says its forces operating under the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) engaged in the fighting with the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) on Tuesday and the fighting continued until Wednesday morning.
SRF field commander Al-Tijani Al-Dhiheb, who led the attack, told Sudan Radio Service on Wednesday from a location he alleged to be Jebel Al-Dair, that his forces seized eight land cruiser vehicles, several military equipment, in addition to killing 27 SAF soldiers. He also said one SAF officer and two soldiers were captured during the fight.
A resident of Rahad town who spoke to Sudan Radio Service on condition of anonymity said that security authorities have stopped buses travelling to and from Khartoum, and shut down all learning institutions in fear of imminent SRF attacks.
Meanwhile, SAF spokesperson Al-Sawarmi Khalid issued a statement saying that SAF repelled an attack by SRF rebels on Sidra, claiming that Sidra is currently under SAF control.
