South Kordofan elections sees varied turn-out
Sudan
4 May, 2011 (Miraya FM)
Hours before polling centers closed, Radio Miraya's correspondent in South Kordofan has reported that voter turnout has reached almost 100 per cent in some centers. The polling process was largely uneventful. Elsewhere in the state, the head of Elections Committee in Al-Mujlad constituency, Yagoub Hamad, has called for extending the polling period in his area.
He told Radio Miraya that the voters in the area faced difficulties in reaching the polling stations, citing lack of transport as well as tribal tensions. He added, however, that half of the registered voters have turned out in his area.
