SPLM meeting in South Kordofan postponed

KHARTOUM
March 20, 2009 (Miraya FM)

The SPLM in South Kordofan has postponed the selection of a new Chairman in the region succeeding Maj. Gen. Daniel Kodi. The move was due to the absence of budget and delays in the formation of of the Supreme Technical Committee, which is tasked to oversee the conference.

Speaking to Miraya FM, the movement's Spokesperson, Omer Nagra, said recommendations have been submitted to SPLM's leadership to determine the right time for the conference:

“We forwarded these measures to the southern sector. Until now, we did receive neither a budget nor any notice to form a Technical Committee to arrange and supervise the conference. The issue has passed through all its constitutional steps. This matter can now be left to Party’s leadership in the south, so as to will come up with appropriate decision and determine the right time for holding the conference.”

The SPLM announced last week its intention to convene a conference for the movement's Liberation Council yesterday and today to choose its new Chairman in South Kordofan State.
