JEM denies intention to attack strategic areas

7 January 2009 (Miraya FM)

The Justice and Equality Movement JEM denied the press statement made by the Sudanese authorities concerning the plans by the JEM to attack oil producing areas and other towns. JEM External Relation officer Dr. Haroon Abdel Hamid said that the Sudan government fabricates such news to draw people's attention to the ICC as he puts it.

He pointed out that they do not target oil because it is national revenue.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mutraf Seddig told Reuters earlier that JEM is mobilizing its forces on Sudan-Chad borders in preparation to attack some towns and oil regions in south Kordofan.

He confirmed that Sudan has information of the movement preparation to launch attacks.
